Headquartered in Denver, Frontier Airlines will begin new non-stop flights to Kingston, Jamaica this coming Thursday, May 5th. The airline plans to launch regular flights to Kingston, Jamaica, marking the first time that it will be serving this capital city. The flights will be available year-round, three times per week.

Frontier is offering discounted fares starting at $79 one-way from Miami to Kingston to celebrate the launch. This new service is expected to boost tourism in Jamaica significantly.
“Jamaica is very heartened by the decision made by Frontier to include flights to Kingston on their roster, well in advance of the summer vacation season. The flights will undoubtedly bolster Jamaica’s tourism industry by allowing us to welcome more of our visitors and members of the Diaspora in Florida to the island,” says Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett.

Though visitors tend to flock to places such as Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, Kingston is a gem in its own right. Kingston is a bustling city that is full of vibrant sights and sounds. Whether visitors are looking to experience the city’s rich music and nightlife, explore its exciting art scene, savor its delicious food offerings, or relax on one of its beautiful beaches, Kingston has something for everyone. This cultural mecca will leave visitors mesmerized and wanting more.

With Frontier Airlines’ recent expansion of its service to Kingston, the city is poised for significant growth. Kingston is a UNESCO-designated “Creative City” that offers visitors a diverse array of art, culture, dining, and eco-tourism experiences. Mayor Bartlett expressed his enthusiasm about these developments, noting their potential benefits for the city. “It will also provide our guests with possibilities to explore the richness that our capital city has to offer while affording them easy access to other resort areas,” Bartlett says.

A New Frontier
Frontier Airlines has been growing rapidly in the Caribbean since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, adding a string of new flights to the country flying out from Orlando and Miami airports. Last year, Frontier began offering direct flights to one of Jamaica’s most popular tourist destinations, Montego Bay. The Senior Vice President of Commercial for Frontier Airlines, Daniel Shurz, is delighted with the addition of flights to Kingston.

“We’re thrilled to launch service between Miami and Kingston, the bustling capital city of Jamaica. Kingston is home to an array of fascinating tourism and rich historical sites, as well as providing easy access to Jamaica’s stunning mountains and beaches. This new service is in addition to our existing flights to Montego Bay,” he said. With other carriers also servicing the same route, Frontier will face competition. However, the low-cost carrier will likely see much demand from cost-conscious travelers.

Things To Do In Kingston
Kingston is a vibrant and exciting city that offers numerous opportunities for recreation and entertainment. With its beautiful beaches, bustling nightlife, world-class art galleries, and colorful markets, there is something for everyone in this energetic metropolis. A few of the more popular sights and activities in Kingston include:
- The Bob Marley Museum: The famous reggae star’s home. Marley’s guitars and other artifacts can be seen on display.
- Port Royal: Once known as the wickedest city on earth, this small fishing village is now a popular tourist destination and historic site. An earthquake and tsunami sank much of the town into the sea in 1692. Dozens of buildings lie just below the water level, still preserved.

- Trench Town: The birthplace of rocksteady and reggae music. The Trench Town Culture Yard Museum is a national heritage site and displays the unique history of Trench Town.
- Jamaica National Gallery: Established in 1974, the Jamaica National Gallery is the oldest public art museum in the Anglophone Caribbean.
With Jamaica ranking number 1 in the Caribbean for summer bookings, it’s no surprise that companies like Frontier are expanding the routes they offer their customers. Travelers will undoubtedly be taking full advantage of the low cost and can likely look forward to more routes being provided in the future.
